Tempest, I’m not a fan of wimpy, shirnking-violet heroines, either. I just like my heroes to be stronger than my heroines.

I really have more to say than that, but it ends up sounding like a bit of an anti-feminist rant.

Suffice it to say, I read for the heroes, not those nameless faceless female characters.

I agree. Weak men are sooo not sexy, especially in books. Evn if they’re quiet and intellectual, they should still be take-charge. I’m re-reading Dime Store Magic and Industrial Magic by Kelley Armstrong. The hero is a very quiet kind of guy who readily admits the heroine is better than him at some things–but he can still kick some ass if necessary. (Highly recommend both books, BTW.)

There’s nothing wrong with a strong woman, but her man should be stronger. Okay, I suppose they can be equals. Most of the time. But damn it, reading about weak men is just not fun.

Richard Kiehl was in a wheelchair, too. I told him he scared me to death when I was a little girl and he said, “Good.” I think he meant because that means he did his job, and not he just like the idea of scaring little girls…but how can you tell, with Jaws?
